Lathe Biosas

The phrase “Lathe Biosas” summarizes the core of Epicurean philosophy of life and it means to live unobtrusively, preserving tranquillity. It constitutes an aspect complete opposite to the common one, according to which life style, popularity, celebrity and recognition are to be pursued. Man’s alienation from his own self reflection and his familiarisation with a fake one as well as the endlessly recycling centrism of thymic (by terms of recalling brutish needs and instincts), deviate him from the pursuit of happiness. Although happiness appears to be a fairy picture, Epicurus refers to it as something that can be accomplished and above all last. As the duration of happiness is the most sensible bet. From desires, some are natural and necessary others are natural and not necessary and others are neither natural nor necessary, but born of vanity- Epicurus (341-270 BC)
